What do we mean by leadership and civic engagement? It can mean stepping forward to participate in our communities, providing leadership to solve problems, set priorities and get things done. Civic engagement means giving up being a spectator to what’s happening. It means to pulling up a chair to the table.

At this symposium, our panel of community leaders will discuss how women come together to make change on our communities through politics, government, and civic institutions.

Then, U.S. Senator Patty Murray will share what inspired her to choose a career in public service, how she's working on behalf of Washingtonians in Congress, and why women taking leadership roles in civic life is critical to addressing the challenges impacting working families in Washington state and across the nation.
