Today’s featured member, Laura Schneider, owner of Meeples Games, said the business is a family-owned, tabletop game store and cafe located in West Seattle. It has been open since May of 2014. Its mission is to bring people from diverse backgrounds together over friendly, non-digital gaming. At Meeples Games you can buy games and accessories, attend gaming events or play games from our extensive game library all while enjoying a burger and a beer or a pastry and a latte in our cafe.
To what do you attribute your business’ success?
A tabletop game store and cafe is a tough business and I attribute our success to several factors including our comfortable atmosphere for everyone to enjoy including families, groups of friends and serious gamers. Our store is clean, well-lit and our staff is friendly, accepting and knowledgeable – we’re the game experts. Most importantly, though, it’s what we bring to our community. We’ve introduced many people to analog gaming, we’ve watched kids grow up and work for us, we’ve had marriages and babies. We feel like we’ve contributed positively to the social infrastructure of our city.
How are you/is your business active in your community?
Meeples Games is active in our community. We participate in the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce, attend neighborhood clean up events, donate to school auctions and other fundraisers, bring gaming to West Seattle Summer Fest and several Pride festivals in the area, run gaming events at schools and businesses – the list goes on. We really feel like we’re an integral part of our community.
Are there partnerships you are/your company is currently looking for?
At Meeples Games, we’re the game experts and host gaming events including birthdays and other parties. One of the coolest things we do is bring the gaming to you. We have experience executing outstanding gaming events in a business setting. We bring the games and our Traveling Wizards – and in no time – your group is participating and laughing together. It’s a great team-building experience. We’re always looking for new businesses to partner with to bring this innovative activity to your next meeting or event.
