In response to Mayor Bruce Harrell’s proposed city budget released Sept. 27, Rachel Smith, the president and CEO of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, offered this statement.

“Across multiple polls and surveys, Seattle voters consistently call for more progress on public safety, homelessness, and affordability and Seattle employers share these concerns,” Smith said. “Mayor Bruce Harrell’s proposed budget takes a pragmatic approach to these challenges. It recognizes that prioritization and a plan are essential to generate meaningful and sustainable progress on the issues that matter most – that is what will bring brighter days ahead for our city.”
